Branson was invited to be part of the Global Commision on Drug policy. Along with his fellow commisioners, he found that the war on drugs is an expensive, disastrous failure that has done no good and caused enormous amounts of harm. Branson advocates treating addicts as medical patients rather than as criminals. He expresses that there are many benefits to be gained across many areas from this approach.
