Many treatment programs and individual healthcare providers want to know how to utilize the Addiction-Free Pain Management® (APM) System to better help their patients who are suffering from chronic pain and prescription medication abuse or addiction. Our primary focus is supporting treatment providers to implement effective treatment strategies specifically designed for people living with chronic pain and coexisting disorders including addiction. Healthcare professionals as well as mental health and addiction treatment providers are on the front line to accurately assess, intervene upon and develop appropriate treatment plans for the impaired patient with a chronic pain condition. This can become more difficult when prescription drug abuse/addiction is present. For years the numbers of people experiencing chronic pain and coexisting psychological disorders including addiction have been increasing significantly. According to research published in Pain Physician Journal (2006), 90 percent of people in the US receiving treatment for pain management are prescribed opiate medication. Of that number 9 percent to 41 percent had opiate abuse/addiction problems. Dr. Grinstead has worked extensively to update and refine the APM™ methodologies that resulted in agencies and individuals all over the United States and in Canada attending his trainings to learn how to implement the APM™ system within their treatment environment. Others use Dr. Grinstead's Consultation services to incorporate APM™ and the Gorski-CENAPS® Model of Relapse Prevention and Denial Management in established treatment settings or new centers just opening. We have also incorporated Coaching into our business for those patients who meet the criteria and would benefit from informative tele-classes, group coaching, or individual coaching services from a trained APM™ Certified Coach or from Dr. Grinstead himself. Many people are unable or unwilling to enroll in a residential or outpatient treatment program so APM™ Coaching, which is provided exclusively by phone and the internet, is a great alternative for them. We are also very excited to offer our APM™ Continuing Care Coaching Program to treatment providers who need ongoing chronic pain management support for their patients after they complete primary treatment. For more information about this program, please contact us at www.addiction-free.com. To develop a solid background and understanding of APM™ we have many books, pamphlets and learning modules available for purchase by both providers and patients on the Publications Page on our website.
