Sick and Tired A Song For AA Members Copyright 1988, Ken Powers I wrote this song for all of my AA friends after attending "open AA" meetings for about twelve years. By the grace of God I don't have the disease of alcoholism, at least the part that destroys my various body systems after I ingest alcohol. I have codependency, which is itself a recognized disease. However, I had heard quite a few AA stories by the time I wrote this, and I felt like I knew how people in AA sometimes think. This particular recording was made by Walking Man Studios in Nashville, and it was what country music folks then called "...stone country." Stone country is really...really...really country! Hope y'all enjoy this, both as a poem and as a digital recording when we are able to imbed it in this post. Sick And Tired Copyright 1988 by Ken P. (Verse I) As a boy I tried to do just what they said, I tried to walk the line. But when I learn-ed the game of life, I beat it ev-ry time! Noth-in' made a tinkers, It was all within my grasp. But the on-ly thing that gave me peace, Was aged and sold in glass! (Chorus) Sick and Tired, Sick and Tired. I'm Just Sick and Tired of feel-ing, Sick and Tired. (Verse II) Now the choice to drink was mine al-one, But through the years that changed. For peace I gave my kids and wife and my Bo-dy in ex-change. Oh I could some-how make it If I found a-nother pill. In the hour I knew my game was done, It ev-en had my will! (Repeat chorus) (Verse III) Then a man who'd come to where I was And ram-bled ev-en more, said "Friend, you ain't the worst of all, I've been where you could go!" "Come join some folks who know you, Who can lead you on back home. Cause the on-ly ones who know your pain Have been there on their own! (repeat chorus)
