Rehabilitation takes time....

My journey into sobriety has had many rocky paths. As a teenager I began addiction using marijuana to ease my pain. I entered a few drug rehabs at my parents urging starting my understanding of therapy and A/A concepts, but never realising extended sobriety, more so learning about and experimenting with more powerful drugs. By the time I was 24, I was using cocaine in huge amounts until I was a down and out crack addict. I met my husband at my lowest point and through love and self sacrifice, he gave me something and someone to live for.

I entered my 9th and last rehab at 27 with the knowledge that I was going to lose the man of my dreams if I didn't hate drugs with a passion. I then could work on my problems with the help of a therapist. I realised that we do the therapy, the therapist just sits there and guides us through our own demons. I have had some relapses I am not proud to say, but I would never touch cocaine or illegal drugs again. I am still on the path to recovery.....do we ever really get there? My life today says yes.
