JackJack, this forum and this website exist to help people, both the public, and treatment centers themselves. It is truly a public benefit service. That said, I have left this forum open to our free registered members for discussion and education, and the moderation has been soft, allowing appropriate links (without nofollows) to be embedded in posts as long as they contribute to the discussion, education on the subject etc.
Linking in a forum post to a
SPAM for no reason other than to attempt to leech value from this site to your own is not only reprehensible, but hurts the user experience for others. It is an
amazingly selfish act to undertake on a public benefit help site, attempting to get users to click away from a heartfelt and honest discussion here to a site with no purpose other than to get clients into a specific treatment organization. I looked at the page you linked to in your post (from which I of course removed the link), and there is no helpful information on this subject (or any other for that matter) on that site. It is nothing more than a page of a spam list of the names of all of the cities in the state on which the page is based.
I have obviously seen you do this on this site under other usernames that you have signed up for over a number of weeks and months, and have consistently gone in and removed the links manually, assuming that you'd get the hint, even once banning one of your profiles, but obviously I was wrong.
This ends now.
If you link to drugaddiction.net or any other site owned by G&G that is branded as a referral site but clearly owned by a a specific rehab organization attempting to mislead the public with their internet marketing, I will be forced to take more drastic action. I will obviously erase the post (I'm not going to waste time editing them any more) and ban you from this forum, and the site in general. I will also contact your company and find out if this type of forum spam on sites that your parent organization advertises is condoned as standard company practice.
It is flattering, and I obviously appreciate the fact that you find this site of such high value that it is an integral part of your overall internet marketing strategy for you to spend the time setting up profiles and writing posts only to link back to your own sites, that you see the value here as so vast that you take the time (and risk of exposure/embarrassment) to spam my forum on the off chance that I'll miss one of your links in the context of managing a 20,000+page site with thousands of users that averages over 10,000 pageviews per day.
For future reference (and this goes for anyone who wants links from treatment-centers.net), the way to get them isn't deception. if you have a website that is related to the addiction field, or even in another field entirely, by all means, go to our
link directory, click "exchange links", and assuming it is a reasonable request, and you link back, I'll approve the exchange. I'm always happy to link to worthwhile sites on the internet, I believe it enhances the experience for our users to have links to other high quality websites..
