Chris,

I am so glad you had that with your sister. It just wasn't possible with my sister because of the street drugs along with the alcohol. She thought I was her worst enemy because she knew I wanted her to get help.

Take care and I'll talk to you soon!

hello guys, i think most of the children of alcoholics becomes expose and would probably tried it at early age, but it depends on the parents also on how they will explain it to their children. just like me, my father is an alcoholic, and almost every night, he goes home late and always drunk. even if he is like that, he keeps on telling us that drinking alcohol is bad, then we ask him, if it is bad then why you still drink alcohol? then he says because he is bad. yah he is bad, because 5 years ago he left us, and go with another girl and now they have a baby. what a pitty to their child. my mother have been so good that he still wants us to be in a right way even if our father was in some kind of road where evil is, my mama always tells us that we shouldn't be follow our fathers doings for our own good. at first i was against everything that my mother tells me. but later i realized that she is right.

Many people think that if your parent is an alcoholic then you will become one in the future and that is FALSE! Alcoholism is not in the genetic make that many people think it is. Anyone can get addicted to the substance. One drink leads to another and another.
This substance is the distroyer of many families and relationships that are dear to them. I have seen what this TOXIC substance can do to anyone who falls victim. It is a very ugly addiction and requires a strong support system and a safe drug rehab center!
Admitting yourself to a safe rehab center would help the cravings for another drink and one step to a better future.

This disease is a killer! My mother took her own life when she was only 49 years old. I am now 49, and a sober, recovering mom. I am blessed to have found recovery and to be present for my daughter. Here's to breaking the cycle. I too married a fellow who drank too much, so I felt I needed to divorce him for my recovery and for the health and well being of my daughter. Really hard choices to make, but again, I want to break the cycle of addiction in my family . . . for codependency too! It is also a deadly disease. I am happy today and still moving through grief and loss of my childhood, but recovery allows me a safe and loving place for growth.

I am no longer thetain, the originator of this thread. I started life new with a new name, teckikat. Losing my sister-in-law to drug overdose, husband to crack and then my sister to alcohol poisoning put me in the dumps for a long time. I don't believe I came back to state the cause of my sister's death was acute alcohol poisoning. She drank so fast she poisoned herself before the body's defense system could kick in and make her throw up.Since finding this out I have heard of many other people, of all ages, who have also met their end this way. Serious business to start out having a good time and not waking up from the party. I know my sister never dreamed this could happen to her or she'd have stopped. I bet she's pretty honked off in Heaven that she doesn't get to see her grandchildren she adored grow up. I've made it my goal that she not be forgotten and all gifts i give to our nieces and nephews come from her and I. I talk to her children and grandchildren about the person she was, the one they never knew.We surviving siblings say I love you at the end of every conversation now. Please, if you drink and you've read this far, STOP. The next drink could be your last one.

I'm happy you like my posts. Have you advertised your rehab center here? The best way to help addicts and alcoholics is to show them rehab sites and what the program offers. The greatest fear man has is fear of the unknown. This is the very best place in America to advertise rehab centers. Thousands come her daily looking for help and I am one of them.
