PCR did not help our son and never even tried to help us become informed. When we found our 19 yr old son smoking oxycontin, we talked to the intake counselor who was very helpful and directed us to take him to the ER because of his high anxiety and continuing insomnia. However, once he was in there, they never contacted us or called us in for a meeting (he gave them clearance to share info with us). After 4 nights the doctor discharged him (insurance would have paid for at least one more night and would cover all outpatient programs). Although someone there had talked to him about programs, he was still shaken and not processing the info. They just had him sign his name and we took him home. That was it. At home he was miserable and depressed. I've had better instructions for taking care of a cut than they gave us for his follow-up care. We left messages for 2 of the staff for help, but nobody ever called us back. They didn't even give us a list of AA meetings, just one referral to a program a couple nights a week and it turned out it was not what he needed at all according to the owner of that program. The nights at PCR did not help - they just took the insurance money and told him goodbye. We ended up taking him to the caring people at Cornerstone where he'll stay for few weeks.

after 20 years of sobrity I had a short slip, hoping for support and care at rehab, I received mean, hateful treatment at the hospital in south Laguna.
The experience (threats, ridicule and isolation they also took my phone and refused to let me call my employer even though the doctor told them to, I lost my job as a result) left me so shaken I went home to Tulsa and checked my self into Brookhaven Hospital where I received the kindness and support I had hoped for in Laguna Beach California.
Even the billing was weird, I was told to be "under the influence to be readily admitted"I was then asked (while drunk to sign all sorts of papers and they took my credit card. They are still trying to bill me even though I had great insurance at the time.
There were very few meetings, rare classes and no spiritual guidence at all. I was shocked at the treatment I received there and thank God not all rehabs are the same, as now I am back on track and doing well.
