Am I codependent? That all depends! You may at the moment be healthier than you ever were because you are in the process of your own recovery. You may be staying in a situation that is only difficult at the moment FOR HIGHER HEALTHIER REASONS than you were capable of before you entered recovery! Maybe your relationship was formed initially in a healthy way with another healthy person and that person got sick. If you are 'toughing it out now for noble reasons (such as trying to maintain the best possible home for your children), then your codependency is not the issue; the issue is your partner's addiction which is controlling your partner's behavior.

REMEMBER; YOU ARE POWERLESS OVER YOUR PARTNER'S ADDICTION.

Continue with your own recovery. Make lots of meetings with others in recovery such as Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, CODA, or ACA. Wait upon The Lord. It may be that the healthy loving relationship that both of you really crave is there, but will be manifested after you grow in recovery to the point where you step aside and allow the addict to experience the full impact of their addiction behavior. In the meantime, stop beating yourself up by labeling yourself as codependent.
