Pain management for surgery in an individual with a history of opiate addiction

Understood. That's great advice, and basically the way I was approaching it... Buprenorphine doesn't work very well for me for pain management, but I can definitely use it to detox from the other opiates they may use... I've got an addictionologist coordinating with my orthopedic surgeon, and I've already discussed with my wife having her dispense the medication to me... I was just wondering if there was anything else I hadn't thought of... Thank you for your expertise!
