Christian Drug Treatment Center

Christian Drug Treatment Center patients swear by the faith-based teachings provided to them in a Christian-centric drug addiction recovery program.  Many patients insist that their addiction recovery was quite a lot easier once they had opened themselves up to the teachings of Jesus Christ and other biblical philosophies.  Why is this? Why is a Christian center better than a non-Christian center? What makes a Christian drug treatment center different from a more secular center? This is best explained by taking a look at both types of drug treatment centers.

How do you know when it is time to seek a Christian drug treatment center?  Admitting that you have an addiction is difficult and convincing someone else that it is time to seek help for his (or her) addiction is even harder.  The simple truth is that denial is powerful, but here are a few hints that seeking help is a good idea:

1.  If you or someone you know avoids social situations because they will not be allowed to use their drug of choice and, instead, choose to stay home because you would rather get high, it is time to seek a Christian drug treatment center.

2.  If you find that you or someone you know is simply cannot stop using once you have started this is a sign of needing help.  A common example of this is a person who pours herself a single drink from a bottle of wine but cannot stop drinking until she has consumed all of the alcohol in her home—and does not realize that she does this, she simply looks back later and says "where did all of the alcohol go?"

3.  If you start lying or trying to hide your drug use from your friends and family this is a sign that it is time to seek help.  The fact that you are lying and trying to hide your addiction is your subconscious's way of telling you that your addiction is not normal and that it is a cause for concern.

There are a variety of drug addiction theory approaches.  In addition to Christian drug treatment centers which are based upon Christian philosophies, there are secular approaches to drug addiction that many Christian drug programs incorporate.  Here are a couple of the different types of recovery therapies that are popular.

1. Relapse Prevention:  this drug addiction therapy approach was originally put together for people suffering from alcohol abuse but it works for other types of drug addiction as well.  This approach involves teaching drug addicts new, good, habits that they can use to replace their older, more harmful habits.

2.  Supportive-Expressive:  This drug addiction therapy works well in Christian drug treatment centers because it focuses on creating a safe environment in which the drug addict will feel comfortable talking about his addiction and his work to get sober.  Many Christian centers intrinsically incorporate this philosophy as they work with patients to overcome their drug addiction and live drug free.

So how do you choose a Christian Drug Treatment Center that is right for you?  Choosing an addiction recovery center is not easy.  Every drug addict is different and what works for one person might not work for someone else.  Choosing the right approach to addiction recovery is important.  Do you work better individually or in a group?  Do you respond better to confrontation and challenges or do those send you running for your drug of choice?  Would you be better suited to an environment that is more comforting? Are you shy or gregarious?

Many addicts agree that a Christian drug treatment center is better than one that does not use the Christian faith and its teachings as part of its addiction recovery philosophy.  This is because a Christian addiction recovery center provides the drug addict with a built in supportive community.  This community is made up of people with similar beliefs who are all either going through or have gone through everything that the drug addict is experiencing.  This, when coupled with bible study and the philosophies of Jesus Christ provide the drug addict with a solid foundation for recovery that is not always found at other types of addiction recovery centers.

A Christian drug treatment center will work with you to help you realize that you are not alone as you work toward sobriety.  Bible study, regular Church attendance and a variety of therapies will provide you with the tools and inspiration you will need to overcome your drug addiction and lead a drug-abstinent life.  Because the supportive community environment of the addiction recovery center can be easily substituted by joining a church in your local community, you never have to worry about losing your system of support!  The fact is that you have a higher chance of achieving sobriety when you enter a Christian drug treatment center than one that is not based on faith.
