We’d like to thank the many amazingly dedicated people we had the opportunity to meet at the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) 2011 conference for their personal commitment to helping others fight for their freedom from addiction. The NAATP is comprised of nearly 275 leading not-for-profit and for-profit providers of addiction treatment and addiction services, including Treatment-Centers.net. As first-time attendees we left enlightened, inspired and humbled by their sense of “mission”.
Topic of discussion at the Connect for Behavioral Health™ booth was that communication with referral sources and families is very important. Here’s what many attendees we spoke with had to say about it:
1) Individuals and programs are more inclined to refer to centers/programs that give them regular, proactive status updates on their referred clients/patients and are equally inclined not to give repeat referrals to those that don’t.

Living with opioid addiction is hell. It can feel like a tunnel without an end, a life without free choice. Withdrawal can seem an insurmountable torture that no one should have to go through. We are here to help. You have to make a commitment, a choice. Only you can do it. But we are here to support you in that choice once it is made.
Rapid detox under anesthesia can get you through the worst of withdrawal with only limited amount of symptoms that we can help to manage. Naltrexone implant will take over from there and take the daily decision making out of your hands. Knowing that narcotics will have no effect on you, if you do slip up, will help the psychological cravings as well.
I will address the importance of continuing therapy in my next entry.

A small implant containing Naltrexone may be placed under the skin while the patient is still under sedation. The Naltrexone implant slowly releases medication to continually block receptors and help the patient fight the physical symptoms of drug addiction. The Naltrexone implant will entirely dissolve and disappear in approximately two months.

Rapid opiate detox is a safe and effective procedure used to free opiates from the body. It was created in Israel almost 20 years ago by Dr. Andre Waismann, who still practices his craft in Brazilai Medical Center in Ashdod, Israel.
Since the original procedure was used on addicted soldiers in Israeli army, it has been gradually perfected by new medications that has since been approved by FDA to help control the effects of the withdrawal. The detoxification drug treatment procedure involves administering intravenous medications that remove opiates from the brain receptors while the patient is sedated. The detox is done under anesthesia to avoid extreme discomfort and pain from opioid withdrawal symptoms. Additional medications are given to counteract the withdrawal manifestations and to comfort the patient.
I will talk more about the Naltrexone implant in the next post.

My Son Is Still Writing His Story.
Sometimes at a meeting words are uttered that are so simple and yet so profound that I leave the meeting going deeper into myself. That happened recently when a woman spoke about her own codependency, and how it had trained her to focus on her son instead of herself.
First, she made everybody laugh when she told us about how easy it was for her son, who was her "qualifier," to CON HER. She said;
