Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis is described as a treatment methodology that treats substance abuse addiction in conjunction with a co-occurring mental health disorder.  Often these mental health disorders are things like depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, manic, and disassociative disorders.  It is important to understand that the behavioral issues that are common with drug and alcohol addiction are not a sign of dual diagnosis treatment as they will get better with the treatmennt of the addiction.
